From the moment they met, Faith is willing to accept the risks and rewards of being Kayla’s best friend.  Beautiful and charismatic, Kayla will do anything to get out of their dead-end Mississippi trailer park - even if her reckless choices fall on Faith to clean up.  So when Kayla sets her sights on social media fame, it is only natural that Faith becomes her collaborator, ghostwriting the captions while Kayla is the dazzling face.  When their Instagram persona @HannahPrimrose goes viral, their fates seem more closely entwined than ever.  Then Faith gets accepted into the prestigious Harkness College. 

By the time Faith arrives on campus for her freshman fall, Kayla is no longer speaking with her.  For the first time ever, Faith must forge her own story.  Surrounded by dizzying wealth and privilege, Faith works in the dining hall, struggles in her classes, and joins a mysterious club run by her enigmatic art history professor.  But when Kayla shows up on campus needing her help, Faith is pulled back into her intoxicating, all-consuming orbit.  Soon enough, they’re concocting stories again, both on- and off-line.  As @HannahPrimrose pivots to dark (and darker) academia content, the likes and clicks follow, and Faith goes from ghostwriter to…something more.  But as Hannah’s star rises, Faith’s future is soon thrown into jeopardy.  Too late she realizes that they might be playing a dangerous game - and only one of them can be Hannah.
